Santa Monica Has Developed an Urban Watershed Management Program

As part of their Urban Watershed Management Program, Santa Monica has constructed a Low Impact Development (LID) project on Bicknell Avenue. Completed in 2009, Bicknell Avenue incorporated many watershed innovations – permeable concrete was used for the parking lanes on the street. This special mix allows water to pass through the six-inch concrete layer and infiltrate into the soil below.
